The sodium hydroxide decomposition method is the main process to treat the raw materials of tungsten minerals. In alkaline system, elements such as phosphorus, arsenic, silicon, molybdenum and tin are leached in different degrees and become the main impurity of sodium tungstate solution. It is found that when sodium hydroxide decomposes tungsten ore, the content of calcium in the raw material is beneficial to the inhibition of the leaching of impurity phosphorus, arsenic and silicon, and the leaching rate of these impurities decreases with the increase of calcium content. This indicates that oxygen-containing acid roots of phosphorus, arsenic and silicon can form insoluble compounds with calcium, and these precipitates can still exist under the condition that scheelite has been decomposed.



For the decomposition of scheelite by sodium metasilicate, thermodynamic equilibrium analysis was carried out for the ca-si-w-h2o system, and a series of balance diagrams were obtained. Theoretical analysis shows that scheelite can be decomposed by sodium metasilicate, and the decomposition solid phase products are CaSiO3 and Ca3Si2O7 in turn with the increase of pH value. In the stable region of CaSiO3 with low pH, the scheelite is decomposed by sodium metasilicate, but the concentration of tungsten is low in the solution. In the stable region of Ca3Si2O7 with a high pH, sodium hydroxide is also involved in the decomposition reaction, and the tungsten concentration increases rapidly with the increase of pH value.
