1. Mix sodium carbonate (or sodium hydroxide) with silica sand according to Na2O/SiO2=1:3 molar ratio, melt in platinum crucible, and dissolve it in water, which becomes sodium silicate aqueous solution. The method includes pure alkali method, sodium sulfate (glauber salt) method and natural alkali method.
